Pul | Polyurethane Laminate: a breathable waterproof layer in many modern resuables |
PVC | A non-breathable layer in some reusables (we don't see them as we don't sweaty bottoms) |
Aplix | Velcro equivalent for fasterning nappy. Sometimes also called 'hoop and loop' |
Poppers | A type of fastening that is main alternative to velcro/aplix: Also called 'snaps' |
Nappi Nippas | The new pin-less fastening for some basic shaped nappies and flat nappies |
Prefolds | Another type of reusable nappy isn't shaped, but a rectangular piece of fabric that you fold in three |
Booster | Often annoyingly used interchangably with 'insert', but usually meaning an extra layer of fabric to 'boost' the nappy's absorbency |
Insert | Usually referring to the absorbent pad you put in the 'pocket' opening of a pocket nappy to make it absorbent |
Liner | Usually referring to a separate layer of either flushable soft paper, or (non-flushable) fleece fabric to catch number twos and protect the nappy stains |
Fleece Liner | A layer of thin fleece fabric that can act as bith a number-two-catcher and as a 'stay-dry' to lock moisture away from a baby's bottom |
Terry Nappy | The 'old-fashioned' nappy style up to the 1980s. Can now be used with modern pinless pins (nippas) and breathable wipes |
