Why we love Tommy’s
Long long ago
I first started working for Tommy’s as a single 20-something advertising executive living it up in London. It was known as a fun pro-bono account at my ad agency, and I was assigned to work on it despite my total lack of qualification in the pregnancy and mothering arena. Just prior to this, however, my lovely cousin had lost her twin boys at 24 weeks pregnancy. It was an absolutely devastating experience for her, and as a family the feeling of impotence we all felt was crushing.
Helping Tommy’s appealed to me as being one, very small thing I could do to perhaps help make sure someone else didn’t have to go through what my cousin had.
I loved that Tommy’s didn’t just raise money for research that might take years, but provided real information and advice to pregnant women that helps right now.
Together we made some fantastic ads, won an award, and most importantly, raised over a million pounds worth of media money to raise Tommy’s profile.
Now
Several (ahem) years later I am lucky enough to have given birth to 3 wonderful, healthy babies.
However, I am constantly reminded that others have not been so fortunate. My sister-in-law also tragically lost one of her twin boys only last year after premature birth at just 25 weeks.
Although I have not been through this bereavement myself, as a mother I have a better idea of the unbearable pain and anguish my sister-in-law and cousin, and thousands of others every year, have had to go through.
So, when I decided to start my own business, I wanted to link up with Tommy’s again to help give all babies the best chance of being born healthy and happy.
How will we do this?
Healthy, happy babies Tommy’s helps fund research centres looking into the causes and prevention of problems that occur during pregnancy so that we can increase the chances of healthy and happy babies being born on time
Cheeks and Cherries will donate 10% of profits every year to Tommy’s to help fund this research
Keeping our babies’ futures bright
Tommy’s works to give babies the best chance of being born healthy through their Dedicated Midwife advice line, research centres and fantastic pregnancy information.
Cheeks and Cherries believes that our babies, and our babies’ babies, will have a brighter future if we are nicer to the planet and throw less disposables into landfill.
Understanding mums’ and babies’ needs
Tommy’s understands every pregnant mum’s need for information and support, which they provide through pamphlets, the Dedicated Midwife line and via their continued research
Cheeks and Cherries understands that it isn’t always easy to get to grips with the world of real nappies when you have a newborn baby, and tries to make it not only easy but fun too.
